The concept was simple; freak out the target audience (stoners & acid heads). If you were tripping on 'shrooms or acid, what would freak you out the most than a sequence of clips of your favorite shows being distorted and morphed together into something completely incoherent? The entire sequence doesn’t make sense, and that’s the beauty of it.
The way I did this was by corrupting the data that a video conversion software embeds inside of a video file, and “meshed” datasets of separate clips into one. I had to use a very specific nightly build of a very crappy transcoding software in order to get this effect. The technique is called data moshing / blooming.
The track in the background is an edit / remix I did in Ableton of a well-known Flying Lotus track.
